It’s 1998, the San Diego Padres are chasing a championship, and Brendan Murphy is just trying to survive the summer.

After a spectacularly bad decision leaves Brendan and his best friend Ty Renner owing $10,000 in restitution, the two teenagers land jobs hawking concessions at Qualcomm Stadium. What begins as a punishment quickly becomes their ticket into an unforgettable world of baseball, friendship, rivalries, first love, and the strange fraternity of vendors who roam the stands every night.

As the Padres’ magical 1998 season unfolds around them, Brendan and Ty navigate demanding bosses, eccentric coworkers, questionable schemes, and the growing realization that the summer can’t last forever. Brendan finds himself drawn to Jessica Sinclair, a girl whose connection to the team puts her seemingly out of reach, while Ty embraces the chaos of stadium life with considerably fewer reservations.

Against the backdrop of packed stands, pennant-race baseball, and the unmistakable culture of the late ’90s, the boys begin to discover that growing up isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about the people you meet, the mistakes you make, and deciding who you want to become when the season ends.
